2014 en tops 3: Geneviève Guimont et Luc Bélanger de PARKA – Architecture & Design

PARKA – Architecture & Design is a firm located in Quebec City that will celebrate its two years of existence in April. Very involved in their environment, you can read their discoveries on architecture and design on their blog Créatique , here on Baron. Geneviève Guimont and Luc Bélanger give us their top 3 of 2014 in architecture.

1. The acquisition of the firms DAA, Cardinal Hardy Architects and Martin Marcotte Architects by Lemay. The firm, which now has close to 480 employees, is now positioned internationally through the presence of business locations in the Caribbean and China, thanks to an agreement with the Toronto group IBI to which belonged the three subsidiaries purchased. Lemay becomes a major player in the Quebec market, but especially outside where he intends to grow. A new adventure for Lemay that will be very interesting to follow over the next few years.

2. New voices have emerged this year in the field of architectural news and design. We think, among other things, of the website www.architectureduquebec.com , the program Faire la ville on MAtv or, soon, the program Archi branchés, which we will be able to see in January at the Canal Savoir. We feel that there is a willingness to talk about architecture and design, both by those who work in the field and by the general population who asks to know and especially to see more on the subject .

3. On the Quebec City side, the birth of the new Bachelor program in product design at Université Laval’s design school is underlined . Good news for design enthusiasts in the capital and those who want to study and work in the field. We can not wait to measure the fallout on the creative effervescence that has been observed in recent years in the city.
